The Prelude

Please note that worship has begun when the music starts. Let us pull our thoughts from the world and center them on God. The Holy Spirit is with us. Look for the signs.

Call to worship:

Praise God for this day. Be still and know that God is here. Let us prepare ourselves to pray and think and rejoice and listen for God to speak to us.

Prayer of Confession

(In silence followed by unison prayer)

The spirit calls us, but too often we are reluctant to heed the call.  The wind of the Spirit blows, yet we cling to the old familiarities where we think we are safe. Help us to risk letting go. Help us to be comfortable in the knowledge that the future is in Your hands as You put Your arms around us and give us the assurance that all is well. In the Name of Christ we pray. Amen.

Words of Assurance

The good news is that God forgives us and gives us Christ to be living water flowing into our souls, replenishing us, and filling us with abundant life. Amen.

Hymn No. 813  Gloria Patri

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,

  and to the Holy Ghost.

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,   world without end.  Amen.  Amen.

Pastoral Prayer with the Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.  Amen.

Confession of Faith:  The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried.  He descended into hell.  The third day he rose again from the dead.  He ascended into heaven, sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic** church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

** catholic (with a small “c”) means “universal”
